Made for Your Application

Felt pads are die-cut nonwoven components used where a soft, fibre-rich contact layer is more important than a watertight seal. They are supplied loose, with pressure-sensitive adhesive, or on carrier sheets for fast placement under legs, displays and light equipment.

Material advantage

Felt offers a gentle contact surface and slides smoothly, helping reduce abrasion on wood, tile, glass and coated furniture surfaces.

Key features

  • Low-scratch fibre face
  • quiet sliding
  • die-cut circles and custom shapes
  • self-adhesive option
  • colour matching.

Manufacturing & Finish Options

Production process

Die cutting, kiss cutting, laser cutting and PSA lamination

Manufacturing notes

Cut edges may show fibre bloom; density, pile and adhesive coverage are specified by the contact surface.

Adhesive options

Permanent acrylic PSA, rubber PSA and repositionable adhesive for clean indoor surfaces.

Surface options

Natural, black, grey or coloured felt; smooth or needle-punched finish.

Where It Fits

Best for

  • Furniture feet, drawer stops, display bases, decorative hardware, glass protection and low-load anti-scratch contact.

Common industries

  • Furniture, homeware, retail display, packaging, décor, office products and light assembly.

Consider another option when

Wet or oily floors, high-load machine mounts, outdoor weather exposure, or precision sealing duties.

Design & Engineering Notes

Design guidelines

Use a pad area large enough to spread the load; round outer corners reduce edge lifting during furniture movement.

Engineering notes

Adhesive bonds best to clean, dry, smooth surfaces; felt should be replaced if it becomes grit-loaded or saturated.

Selection Guide

Use wool felt for a premium natural finish, polyester for colour consistency and moisture tolerance, and thicker dense felt for heavier furniture.

Material comparison

Felt protects finishes more gently than rubber but lacks rubber’s grip; foam gives more cushioning but generally wears faster under sliding.

Standards & requirements

Customer appearance standard, dimensional drawing and agreed density or weight specification.

Drawing Requirements

PDF, DXF, DWG, STEP, AI, CAD screenshots and dimensioned sketches can be reviewed. Don’t have a CAD drawing? A dimensioned PDF, sketch or clear image may be sufficient for an initial review.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will felt pads scratch hardwood floors?

Clean felt pads are designed to reduce scratching, but embedded grit can scratch; inspect and replace pads as needed.

Which felt density is suitable for dining chairs?

Medium-density 3 mm felt is a common starting point, with larger footprints for heavier chairs or rough floors.

Can you cut a logo-shaped felt pad?

Yes. Die cutting can produce custom silhouettes, internal holes and branded retail-sheet arrangements.

How long does the self-adhesive backing last?

Life depends on the surface cleanliness, pad loading and movement frequency; a larger adhesive area improves retention.
